From the Pastor’s Desk

What a time of contrasts we have experienced recently. Wonderful worship and joy in our Lord with our brothers and sisters in Christ on the 210 corridor while our denomination and nation remains torn by division and we see outrageous devastation and death in Russia’s war against the Ukraine.

Even the weather seems at odds with itself.

I look outside and see daffodils blooming on the church grounds as I hear forecasts of snow.

I recall the first time I heard the word “awry,” which means away from the correct course; amiss. It was on a television show and the man was reading the newspaper and said, “The whole world has gone awry.”

Ah, yes, there are days when awry just seems the perfect word to describe what we observe going on around us. Yet despite what appear to be our circumstances we find our hope in the Lord!

The prophet Nahum when sharing his vision about the eventual fall of Nineveh (because sadly even after Jonah warned them and they repented it didn’t last!), also brings a message of hope to those of us who walk with the Lord.

The Lord is Good,

A stronghold in the day of trouble,

And He knows those who take refuge in Him.

Nahum 1:7

As we journey through this season of Lent, let us grow ever closer to our God! May we rest assured that whatever may be going on in the world around us, our God knows us. Our God is walking with us as we strive to take our next faithful step.

We don’t need to be in control, because we can trust that God is! As the song says, all we have to do is take “one step, just one step. All you have to do is take one step and He will do the rest!” Amen!

We do not walk alone.
Our God walks with us!

Shalom, Pastor Peggy
