But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.

1 Peter 2:9-10

We are God’s people, a royal priesthood. We have been called out of darkness into the light. How amazing is that? But this calls for a response from us, doesn’t it? And along with the great joy and peace that are ours as God’s people, comes the need to respond to God’s Grace in our lives, to respond to His love for us.

There was a time when I was timid in my response. I’m not sure why. I don’t think it was because I loved God less. Perhaps it was a natural shyness and quietness or just that my priorities were awry or maybe both.

I was afraid I was inadequate to share God’s love. I was concerned others would resent me and not like me. I didn’t want to risk that they might feel I was “pushy” or “too religious.” And I was very uncomfortable around people I didn’t already know, especially if they were different than my family or our friends.

There are still many times I feel inadequate and find I must push myself outside of my comfort zone. However, as the saying goes, I keep on keeping on, because Scripture tells me if I believe in Jesus, I will not only do the works that he does but will do even greater works. It tells me if I have seen Jesus in my life, I have seen the Father. Don’t just take my word for it, read John 14:1-14. Jesus also promised us a Comforter and a guide in the Holy Spirit. He promised us that he would give us the words we need when we are sharing about him. Are you ready to proclaim the mighty acts of Him, who called you out of darkness into the marvelous light? If you have an interest in exploring new ways that you might share the good news of Jesus Christ, please let me know. I believe Christ is calling us to share the Gospel! Let’s join together to claim the tools the Lord is giving us to do so.

In His Love,
