Pastor’s Page

Faith UMC has much to thank God for during the past year. Some highlights which spring to mind:
Consolidation of online and Sanctuary services
Active role in 210 Corridor services by co-hosting the Ash Wednesday service and hosting another service at Faith;
Implementation of a Unified Board in January of 2022;
Sending one of our own, John Jacobs forward to declare his candidacy the upcoming church conference in October;
Continuing to offer two Bible studies for Faith and support a third Bible study at Sagepoint;
Serving the community by hosting the Accokeek food pantry and GSA Troop 21028;
Operating a Thrift Store which benefits the community and helps to fund our other ministries;
Leading a longstanding ministry to the homeless living on the streets of our Nation’s Capital in partnership with six other churches.

Through the stewardship of a congregation which is only small in membership but not in faithfulness or love of God’s children, when the compressor on the air conditioner in one of our buildings went out this summer, we were able to borrow from our reserves to replace the unit quickly. Our capital campaign to replenish those funds to the reserves has already raised over half the cost of the unit and I am confident we will be able to find the resources to repay the full amount. We continue to strive to build relationship with our community and to grow in service to our Lord that we might fulfill our mission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

It is a great blessing to me to serve as your pastor as we move into a new season in the life of Faith church. I am so excited by your willingness and commitment to serve our God and your church family, and your desire to make disciples of Jesus Christ. I am humbled to stand alongside you as we have walked through a pandemic with faith and strength that only our Lord could provide. I praise God for where he will take us as our next faithful step on our journey in faith together.

In His Love,
Pastor Peggy,
