This is such a lovely time of year in this part of the world. The leaves are just beginning to turn. There is a freshness and crispness to the air when one gets up in the morning. Ah, but then if you turn on the news, it doesn’t always seem so lovely, does it?

However, our Lord and Savior has promised us peace that passes all understanding. Our lives, both today and our eternal lives, do not rely on where we live or even where we were born. We don’t need to depend upon the decisions of political, religious, or world leaders for justice, mercy, and peace. Even when we have made mistakes and done things which we know are wrong, we are invited in God’s Word in verses such as Philippians 4:23 to “Receive and experience the Amazing Grace of the Master, Jesus Christ deep within yourselves.”

God’s abundant grace and mercy has been offered to us if we will just turn our eyes upon the Lord. This past Sunday we talked about staying in love with God. Some of the ways we do this include public worship of God, the ministry of the Word (either read or expounded), partaking in the supper of the Lord, joining in family and private prayer, searching the Scriptures, tithing, and fasting or abstinence.

This Sunday we will celebrate Laity Sunday. Pete Perry, our current lay leader, Miguel Palacio, our next lay leader, and John Jacobs, our board chair will lead us in worship as we celebrate the ministry of the laity. We will wrap up our sermon series by examining how as ones called by God, we can stay in touch with God. I hope you can join us.

In His Love,
Pastor Peggy,
