For we live by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV

What does this verse say to us? Life can get us down at times. I suspect all of us have moments when we feel overwhelmed, inadequate to face the challenges lying ahead. Paul is telling us in the passage accompanying this verse in his letter to the Corinthians that when we don’t have to rely on our worldly perceptions because God is with us, that our hope lies in the Lord.

For some time, I have been asking you to pray each day at 10 AM or whatever time you are able for our church. I do that because I know that PRAYER WORKS! We see some fruits of your prayers in our new relationships with the Girl Scouts and the American Legion.

What new opportunities will God present to us in the coming days?

I’m asking you now to change those daily prayers just a bit. I would still like you to pray each day for our church, but I would ask that you pray for clarity around the vision for our next faithful step in serving the Lord together. I ask that you share whatever vision of our life together God gives to you, with me, Miguel Palacio (our incoming Lay Leader), or John Jacobs (our Leadership Board Chair). Through our shared vision, let us live and walk together in 2023 by faith, not sight.

In the eyes of the world, we at Faith UMC may be too old, too weak, too small, too poor, or too whatever to accomplish God’s purposes, however I know the truth of God’s promise to us. Jesus Christ has given us new birth and through faith as small as a mustard seed, we can move mountains. May God bless us to live by faith in the coming year and for all our days!

Blessings,
Pastor Peggy
