I thought rather than me trying to summarize how the beginning of Passover is celebrated in the Jewish faith, I would share with you some information from Chabad.org: “The eight-day Jewish holiday of Passover is celebrated in the early spring, from the 15th through the 22nd of the Hebrew month of Nissan, this year April 5 – 13, 2023. Passover (Pesach) commemorates the emancipation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. Pesach is observed by avoiding leaven, and highlighted by the Seder meals that include four cups of wine, eating matzah and bitter herbs, and retelling the story of the Exodus.

In Hebrew it is known as Pesach (which means “to pass over”), because Gd passed over the Jewish homes when killing the Egyptian firstborn on the very first Passover eve.”

So, you may be wondering why I am sharing this with you. It is because we have been invited to share in an online first night Seder, led by a Messianic Jewish member of an online Bible Study group, at 7 PM on 4/5/23. We will be guided through the Haggadah and gain a richer understanding of the roots of our faith.

I plan to be there and hope you can join us. If you are interested please either contact me or Lynn Otis for further details.

Blessings,
Pastor Peggy
